Performance 1,930 competitive model games · 24 seasons

Every one of the 1,930 recorded competitive appearances is used in the price model, including 4 play-in/NBA Cup final games. The season rows below cover 1,926 regular-season and playoff games, shown separately. Play-in and NBA Cup final appearances stay separate from those official season totals.

Points, rebounds, assists, steals, blocks and turnovers are per game. The current season is partial. Preseason, All-Star exhibitions and games LeBron did not play are excluded; an 82-game team schedule is not treated as 82 player appearances.

News 48 sourced career events

A selected timeline of 48 sourced events from Jun 26, 2003 to Oct 20, 2026. It is a retrospective career archive, not an exhaustive news feed or measured sentiment. NBA titles, regular-season MVPs, Finals defeats, Olympic golds and All-Star MVPs use consistent event rules. A date without a listed event does not establish that there was no news.

The percentages below are declared model assumptions, not observed market returns. The question mark beside a price opens its applied rates and dollar contributions. Context-only events have no separate adjustment; one-game records do not add a premium on top of the box-score effect.

How these inputs make the market

Version 2.0 starts at a declared $100.00 model IPO on Oct 29, 2003. The game results, dated events and pageview counts are recorded observations. The IPO price, factor exponents and event percentages are explicit pricing assumptions; the resulting prices are calculated, not historical traded share prices.

Game performance. For every competitive appearance, box-score efficiency is PTS + REB + AST + STL + BLK − (FGA − FGM) − (FTA − FTM) − TOV. Blend the last 20 games' average at 60% with the last 5 games' average at 40%. The price factor is (new blended efficiency ÷ previous blended efficiency)0.7. Early windows use only games already played; the debut establishes the baseline. Performance holds between appearances.

Dated events. These default rates multiply the price when a sourced event occurs. They are model choices, not measured financial reactions. Career event effects remain in the price; the availability discount below has an explicit return-to-play reversal.

Reported injury availability discount−5.00%
Context only; no separate price adjustment0.00%

A reported injury applies a 5% availability discount once. Overlapping reports do not stack it. On the next observed game after the injury date, the price is multiplied by 1 ÷ 0.95 to reverse that discount. This records return to play, not a medical claim of full recovery; context-only return headlines do not add another premium.

Reader attention. The factor is (new observed 7-day mean Wikipedia views ÷ previous mean)0.1. The first six days of coverage use the observations available. Missing dates and the first observation after a gap produce a neutral factor of 1; coverage beginning in July 2015 cannot itself move the price. Higher reader attention is not positive sentiment, and missing activity is never replaced with invented views.

Daily calculation. Start from the previous close, apply the game factor, then dated event rules, then reader attention. Each step is rounded to cents. The game, event and attention dollar contributions add exactly to that day's closing-price change. There is no random movement, delayed convergence, price smoothing or daily percentage cap. Game dates use US Eastern time; Wikipedia observations use UTC days. These are daily snapshots, not an intraday feed.

Sources were retrieved retrospectively. The selected news timeline is not a point-in-time archive, and source publication dates may differ from event dates. This reconstruction does not establish historical trading returns or which information a trader could have known on each date.
